I have uploaded an image which has the character 'e' written in it. I had preprocessed the original image using opencv2 but still couldn't get tesseract to recognize the character.

Any suggestions on how to get tesseract to recognize the 'e' in this image?

What font is that? It looks more like a backwards 9 or a child's attempt to draw an 'e' using a computer mouse.

It's unlikely that the default training set has anything that looks like that at all, so you'd probably have to retrain (using the rest of the glyphs in the font too).
