I just noticed that my neighbor has installed two digital meters (PSE&G). I asked him about any charges and was told no charge for the digital meters at all.
I do not know where on the e-mail list today I saw this question.

Could it be a production meter ie solar, geo, or cogeneration heating system that creates electricity. I have two meters at home both digital, as well as in the office.

Hi All,
I posted this on the NJ Tesla thread but haven't seen many responses yet.  Just wanted to flag for you.  Appreciate your input.

NJ SUPERCHARGER
KeithE | APRIL 25, 2013

Has anyone heard an update on this? I must say I am disappointed how slow this is happening. At the event in march they alluded to problems with the nj turnpike authority rejecting their request due to the proprietary nature of the technology. We can all email the NJ Turnpike Authority on their web page and let them know you care about this. It is completely short sighted and foolish given the amount of extra space at these rest stops. In fact I would prefer if the spots were far away from the entrance so as not to be blocked or attract attention. Appreciate any updates on this. They are moving too slow in my opinion ad need customer support to make his happen. Thanks for everyone's help!

Talk about the charger being close to the entrance of the rest stop service center, when we were at the DE supercharger station couple weeks ago, 1 spot was taken by a Camery and the other was taken by a Chevy Volt. The only reason they parked there is because it is 30 feet away from the service center door. SO that's 2 out of 4 charging spots taken. There is no way to keep these selfish and inconsiderate people from taking up charging space, and once they are there, you can't do anything about it either.. I guess the only way is to move the chargers further away.

@KeithE
If you can find the NJ Turnpike e-mail or phone number that we all can call, let us know.

This is what I wrote: subject: Tesla Superchargers

I am a NJ resident that has chosen to go green by driving a fully electric vehicle, the Tesla Model S. As you know our governor and president are encouraging the adoption of EVs across our country. I have heard that the NJ Turnpike Authority has denied Tesla Motors the right to install supercharger stations along I 95 or the GSP. This makes no sense at all. Both Delaware and Connecticut have allowed them on their highways, not to mention several other states. I ask you to please reconsider. There is plenty of room at rest stops along the highway for 2 simple parking spaces and they can be placed far away from the main entrance so as not to take away valuable parking space. In order for our country and state to move ahead and promote a greener environment we need to be forward thinking and flexible enough to enable these technologies. Tesla's Superchargers are 10x as fast as any other technology on the market and make long distance road travel by EV a reality. Please ask your leaders to reconsider this and help our state become a little greener! Thanks for your consideration. Keith

Thanks for doing that, Keith, but looks like an uphill battle.  Private restaurant parking lots may be more promising, maybe McDonald's?  "Eat crap and be green"

On Sunday I tried to charge (my 1st Supercharge) in Delaware and there was a model s in one spot, a Toyota with tinted windows blocking two spots and so I parked in the last spot, hooked up and greeted the returning driver of the Toyota with a friendly hello and pointed out that these were electric car spots. She replied that "he" would talk to me, at which point a large and intimidating fellow got out of the back seat and advised me of his opinions regarding class warfare. I consider myself lucky to have been able to beat a hasty and safe retreat.

That having been said, I believe that our cause, our cars and ourselves would be much better served with the Superchargers way out back.

PS- Supercharging is awesome.

Howard,
Hopefully these incidents are being reported toTesla Motors. What is supposed to be a Super-convenience is turning into a inconvenience. We used the Supercharging station in Delaware on the weekend after Christmas (it had just opened) and 2 out of the 4 ports were occupied but a truck and a van. If only the charge cords were long enough that we could block the lazy bums in and charge regardless......but most of us who stop, need the charge-up to continurpe our trip.
Glad it ended safely for you, it could have gone badly.

Danielle.

Thanks very much. I intend to write to Tesla and keep posting on the bulletin boards.  I realize that the idea of using prime spaces was to get exposure, but I really think that it does more harm than good and ends up being less convenient for us in the end.

I sent an email to the Tesla Board regarding this issue and included the correspondence between NJ Tesla Club (names excluded).
Hope it helps.
I also printed off a few of the windshield flyers from Blink.....just to leave a subtle message and maybe the inconsiderate drivers will think the next time.   Maybe not.

There needs to be a fine for parking an ICE in an EV charging spot.

Anyone know if this is being proposed in NJ?  Does Blankenship know about this?

For what it's worth, EVs are doing this idiot a favor - less demand for gas = lower prices for gas

It seems like the laws are still state by state.  Washington State now has a violation fee of $124.  In California it is fine-able if your EV car is in a charge spot and aren't plugged in.  Maryland has a fine for parking in EV spots so I guess it's understood....parking or charging.
The EV corporate community has to stop installing these charging spots near the entrances to business!
