Hi

Perhaps someone has solved this issue already ...

I've just received my first Windows 10 TELA laptop. When I open the box and boot up the laptop Internet Explorer won't load the home-page (www.tki.org.nz). Some web-pages will load but some won't. Edge works fine as does Chrome. Any ideas about how to fix this IE issue?

( know that it's better to use Chrome or Edge but someone will want to use IE so I can't send it out broken!)

(I know too that most of you image the TELA laptops and I normally do too but I need to get this one out quickly so I plan to do that using the supplied image then build my own image for subsequent laptops).

Thanks
Alan

They've still got Win7 drivers available for that model if you want to use your Win7 image to get it out quickly.

Just wondering if it's a security settings issue - check it's not looking for certificate revocation and the proxy settings are correct (if you use them) http and https. Is it just https pages that won't work ?

It may be compatibility mode needs to be set. But in fact MS makes it clear IE is not being maintained so people should be moving off it.

Hi Alan,

Have you tried running Windows Update? We replicated the fault here on a G2 model with the Windows 10 image, but the issue went away after updates were installed.

Have you got any other example websites where you saw the issue? We replicated it with tki.org.nz set as the homepage, but couldn't replicate it with any other sites. Weirdly, if you went to a site that loaded OK (after trying to load TKI as the homepage), the TKI website would load happily after that.

Thanks,
Simon

Hi All

Thanks for your replies. Seems like it's just another of those Windows mysteries.

Rather than spend time trying to get to the bottom of that I decided to take the more productive path (reinstall OS).

No wonder we are buying Chromebooks for our student devices rather than Windows PCs. 1. Maintainability. 2. Security.

Speaking of alternatives - one of my primaries just deployed their first 6 ChromeBOXes...

Interestingly, they've noted that their students flock to the Chromeboxes before the Chromebooks! I don't think it's just a case of 'because they're new' (the Chromebooks are new too). Apparently the students say it's because they like the bigger screen.

Thankfully they come with the same benefits as the Chromebooks from an IT-management perspective :)

Pete

Ps, for those who are interested, they are Acer's CXI model, sourced from Noel Leeming.
