KAMAR woes

Is anyone else seeing this behavior with filemaker 15 on OSX 10.11.6?

Everything is ok for a while, and then the login changes, with a pop up asking for a registered username and password to log in. A standard KAMAR log in doesn't work. The kamar log in screen never appears.

The only fix i've found is to switch back to v14.

I could do with a proper solution.

Hi Flow,

When this next happens - can you contact our helpdesk so we can investigate further please. I’ve reviewed our logs and cannot see any recent contact from you on this, so it’s very difficult for us to investigate a ‘proper solution’ if we don’t know about it.

Has the user possibly lost their network connection prior. FileMaker will attempt to reconnect automatically after this occurs - which requires KAMAR to re-authenticate with the files. We may have missed somewhere where we need to do this, so it would be useful to see it happening so we can try and replicate.
The other possibility is the local FileMaker cache has become corrupt - in which case, it’s each to clear this out.

I was asking the community because i was hoping for a quick answer. 


so it would be useful to see it happening so we can try and replicate.

go for it. In the meantime i'm just using v14. not particularly keen to be someone's beta tester.

Got the exact same thing here. Just waiting for my phone to upload photos so I can post.

This is from a computer where someone has let it insistently install the update then they have both versions 14 and 15 installed and when they start up it runs on fm14 and says they haven't got 15 installed and would they like to install it, again

So I uninstalled both 14 and 15 then tried to install 15 from the installer I downloaded off Kamar's website. No association problems but as soon as the client contacts the server up pops this login dialogue box.

Our users who have tried this 15 auto update thingy are all complaining that Kamar keeps freezing on them. When they use the terminal server running 14.0.3 it never freezes. Oh, but that's an old bug ridden version of fm that we should be updating to the latest version. <snort>

ISTR reverting to 14 was just so much fun because there are no full versions only upgrades, so you have to install 13 and then upgrade it to 14.0.3 before you can finally put 14.0.5 on.

Server's running 14 something.

If you are on Windows you need to go to C:/Users/<<USER>>/AppData/Temp/ and delete the FileMaker folder
I imagine there is a similar folder on Mac.

KAMAR were real helpful when I phoned them up... they were able to solve for me in well under 2 minutes.

I'm glad you found a temporary band aid for the issue. I'm hoping that a more permanent solution can be found so i don't have to get hands on with 40 laptops on a regular basis.
