TELA laptop on Apple DEP

Just wondering if the TELA laptops were able to be enrolled under Apple DEP (school account), especially when their lease expires, we normally purchase them for student use. Would be ideal to have them on managed MDM. Any ideas?

You can do what you like with them. We return ours with the hard drive wiped so the next person has to reinstall OSX again.

What I'm looking at is once a new order of TELA laptop has been placed, ideally it should be enrolled to our Apple DEP, not after the lease.

Yep, that's what I mean. Once you have it as a new leased PC, you can install whatever software you like, we install backup software and asset stuff, antivirus (hate the SEP that comes with it), then just before it goes back after the three years, we purge the hard drive using DBAN to remove all our software, settings etc etc.

But in order to have this enrolled to Apple DEP programme, the vendor have those devices serial number allocated to you (school) via VendorID, or the device is directly purchased thru Apple, wonder if TELA supplier will be able to facilitate this for school Apple DEP account.

Thanks, Alistair. Called TELA Helpdesk and they escalate my query to their Senior Procurement Specialist, this might be possible. They are asking for the device serial #, our Customer AppleID, and the previous order number to process the enrolment. Hopes it will be a success.

Got a reply from TELA and will start the process of enrolling the devices for Apple DEP for those purchased units as well as the under lease ones. They will use us as a test case and will waive any fee if there is, normally due to back-end administration on their part. Let's see what comes next.
