Vinyl cutter

Was over at the shop over the weekend and noticed that the vinyl cutter is no longer in the Artifactory.  Is that a temporary change or is it gone for good?

Hi Steve;

I noticed it was gone as well.  I've never used the vinyl cutter there, but I am curious how many (who) did?  The reason is:  I am a sign-maker, and I may be willing to re-furbish a nice one from my shop and donate it.  However, I would need to talk to a couple "regular people" because the software that I use is a single station license and could not go with the machine, and I would need to decide how to configure it some different open source software that it would actually benefit people.  I  need to know what folks are plugging in to cut, so that I can actually make that happen predictably.  If I spent time and money to spruce it up and it just sat there, I'd get a bee in my bonnet, so if anyone wants to contact me on the subject, I invite you to do so and we can discuss.  Thanks and have a great week folks.

The vinyl cutter was a loan from a member, who I believe is no longer a member. So it’s gone for good.

Janice, I don’t know that very many people used the cutter. IIRC it was a 28” USCutter MH series, so a pretty inexpensive unit. If you’ve potentially got another unit we should talk, and see if something can be worked out to everyone’s satisfaction...

Thanks for the info, Scott.  Had no idea they were that cheap -- $260 new on ebay.

I have a few project that could use a vinyl cutter.  Didn't know how to use the one that was there but would be interested in learning. 

So, if you have one, there would be some interest.
