Hi All,
I just graduated from college in Northfield and moved to Minneapolis for work. While in college I had access to a woodshop to dabble in my wood working fancies.
Now that I'm settling down in Minneapolis, I realize I would love to continue wood working.
Is the hacker space somewhere I could come in to work on projects, learn new skills, and just to chat?
What kind of tools do you have in the shop available to members? How does one sign up?

The best way to answer both of your questions would be to drop in during the open house on a Wednesday evening 7-9pm.  You can tour the shop, and there will be someone who can sign you up.

The wood shop has most major woodworking tools you'd expect: table saws, jointer, planer, band saws, belt/disk sander, drill presses, miter saw, routers, router table, and lots of misc handheld tools.  It is however, very beneficial to have at least a core set of your own tools to use as well, because the current state or location of any specific tool can be a bit problematic.

We have wood, metal and machine shops in the space.  The wood shop is fairly complete with all the tools you'd need to do most things.  We are lacking on an official list of what we have for tools.

If your interested, we also offer regular classes in Welding and Laser cutting/etching.

We are open to the public for tours on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
The best would be to come to visit, our address is3119 East 26th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55406.

I hope so. I've been a member for 3 years or so, and that's mostly
what I do. I'd suggest also going involved in special events and
especially quarterly cleanups, just to get to know what (and who)
keeps the place running.

> What kind of tools do you have in the shop available to members?

Woodshop - 2 table saws, planer, jointer, biscuit jointer, drill
press, cordless hand drills, panel saw, chop saw, radial arm saw,
router table, routers, cnc router table, sanders (hand and tabletop)
etc. Not my main focus, so I may have missed some.

There's also a similarly extensive selection of metal fabrication &
machining equipment, laser cutter (for organic materials, not metals),
electronics lab, and some more.

Wednesday nights, open house, ~6:30 pm - 8:30 pm, there are tours
where you can find out more about all the equipment on hand, classes,
etc. To join, look in the class room / electronics lab for Brandon.
Feel free to ask anybody for directions, its a bit place but not THAT
big.
