We've started a TimeSaver Machine Donation Drive at the Hack Factory.

If members can raise $2500 for this machine (~$40 a person) the board will match the funds raised.

A tax deductible donation can be submitted via paypal to the treasurer (just put a note that the payment is for the timesaver), or we have a donation box on the Fence to the wood shop.

If you'd like to pledge $100 or more to the timesaver, please email me at Volun...@tcmaker.org with your Name and pledge amount.  If you pledge, we ask that you send in your tax deductable donation within a week of when we hit our donation goal amount (which should be early August).

Here is why this Machine is so Important for our shop:
1) The planer is getting abused, and has been taking a few hours each week to upkeep because of this abuse.
The Timesaver model we are looking at has built in features which protect the machine from abuse - and will take a huge workload off the planer.
2) Dimensioning lumber on the TimeSaver is much more accurate vs the planer
3) Will greatly cut down on dust created by sanding
4) Will greatly reduce the amount of time it takes to sand boards and projects!
5) This machine has a potential to become a revenue center and increase membership for us - most shops rent time on these machines for for $3-$5 a MINUTE!

How a TimeSaver Machine works:

A TimeSaver is a machine with a series of Sandpaper rollers. You feed the wood on a conveyor belt, the rolls of sandpaper act much like planner blades to remove a certain amount of material. So not only can you dimension the thickness, but you can come out with a finished sanded board all in one shot! This machine is neat because it has digital readouts...no more taking a tape measure to ensure you have the correct thickness!

Here is the Model We Want to Purchase - A Local Company out of St. Paul Makes these:
