Tasker Keeps Closing

Tasker keeps closing and restarting. I've tried Reliable Alarms when off AND always. It's also running in foreground. I've got power saving disabled for Tasker and all plugins. Is there anything I can do to stop this?

Are you sure it's 'closing', or could it be being killed by something ?

Is crash.txt in the Tasker dir being written every time ? If not, it's
being killed.

Maybe you have some 'cleaner' app installed or similar ?

Oh I'm sure it's being closed rather than closing. Sorry for using the wrong wording. There's no crash.txt and I don't have a task killer or cleaner app of any sort..

That only leaves Android really. Maybe it thinks you're short of resources ?

I can't imagine why. I have no large apps, no games, Tasker is the biggest use after the screen, which isn't on all the time.

Update: it seems to happen if the phone has been untouched for about 30 minutes or more. When I turn the screen on Tasker has closed (or been closed) and is restarting. This is odd as it has a task set to repeat every 2 minutes. Could Doze be taking over?

Maybe you have a Huawei ? Many of them don't seem to respect whitelisting.

I've disabled optimising under two different settings:
Settings > Battery > Battery Usage > More > Optimise battery usage.
Settings > Battery > Details
I've even had optimisation turned off for everything.

It's got a tasks repeating every 2 minutes FFS, what am I supposed to do?

OK, thank you. I've set my phone to optimise Tasker after 3 days instead of never so I need to wait and see if that changes anything. I figured out this morning it takes about 40 minutes before it's shut down.

I just took a bug report, but as I don't have an email app set up on my phone I thought I could send it to my computer via Airdroid but nothing happened. I can't find the report anywhere and I can't stop my phone trying to send the bug report to Airdroid - it isn't covered by app defaults. Now what?

I can only suggest the Keep Awake flag in the task, or wake up the device every 20
minutes while this task is running. Neither optimal solutions, sorry.

Fuck this, the fix worked for a day and now it's back to its old tricks. It was restarted four times while I was at a party last night. I thought Doze only works if the phone is stationary for a period.

I've set a profile repeating every 20 minutes that uses Secure Settings to wake the CPU for 1 second. Is that the type of thing you meant?

You never clearly state what you mean by 'tasker being closed' Could you give some details on exactly what is happening?

Could you post the relevant part of the  run log when this happens?  menu / more / run log

I've figured out what causes it: Profiles that repeat every 2 minutes. The problem is more frequent if I have two profiles repeating every 2 minutes but staggered by 1 minute (eg Profile1 starts at 01:00 and Profile 2 starts at 01:01 and they both repeat at 2 minute intervals.

 I shall try and make it happen again and post the Run Log.

I would start by disabling the original profiles then  making 2 new profiles with the same contexts and use very simple tasks with just a few actions like log the time to a file and perhaps a flash or notification just to let you know it has run .  Then see if those simple profiles will fail as well.  Start with something very basic and simple for testing. Then if they do not fail start adding the tasks and actions back in to see where it is failing.

Good plan. I've done that sort of thing before. I've disabled the offending profiles and replaced them with different triggers but I'll do that anyway just to locate the problem.

I've been testing and testing and the things that seem to cause the issue sometimes doesn't cause it at other times. Therefore, this is my theory: Tasker is closing (or being closed) when it's filled up its allocated RAM (or something like that). When this happens it will happen more frequently until the phone is restarted. Using more images in tasks speeds up this process. Does that sound likely to you experts?

I've finally figured out the cause. I think. It seems to be PowerAmp, or Tasker's interaction with PowerAmp. I've changed my settings so Tasker works with Samsung Music and so far Tasker hasn't restarted.

So I hadn't figured out the cause. PowerAmp is uninstalled but the problem still occurs. Yesterday it happened 8 times. It never happens during the night while I sleep.
