I am working on fixing or improving various problems with Android 6.0.

Most of the problems will be related to things needing to happen when the
device being off, due to Android's new Doze Mode.

To improve things a little yourself:

* keep the device charging when possible and when reliability is more
important
* go to Android Settings / Apps. Click the settings cog in the action bar.
Click Battery optimisation. Select All apps with the pulldown. Select
Tasker and then Don't optimize.

I have an issue on marshmallow where it wont allow me to install Tasker + Utter! at the same time.
This is a huge bummer as I just purchased Tasker after hearing of its integration only to spend an hour figuring this out.
When I uninstall Utter, Tasker installs fine.
When I uninstall Tasker, Utter installs fine.

Is there any way to fix this? It's the "-505" error. :(

See the 'can't install Tasker on Lollipop' sticky thread.

Hi folks,

I have a problem with using the voice output.
If I use an old task it works, but if I want to create a new one, or change an old one, I get an error message... Any idea how to fix?

Hey Pent,
Just started using a nexus 6P on marshmallow and encountered some issues. I can no longer toggle/on/off the phone radio. Each time I trigger it, tasked force quits and stops working. Just wanted to give you a heads up. Will report any other issues I come across.

That's no longer possible, except perhaps with root (see Secure Settings maybe)

Thanks for the quick reply. And that's unfortunate but slightly expected from Google. Thanks for the great work! One other thing that changed is the silent mode. In tasker I now only have the option to select off or vibrate. But my imported tasks actually had another option before I changed it. It was set to "2" which translated to priority mode in the "do not disturb" setting. Does this mean "silent mode" has migrated to "do not disturb" and is continuing the same api? Will the silent mode action be updated accordingly?

Since Lollipop, Silent Mode is just for controlling vibrate.

The current 'Interrupt Mode' action (changed to Do Not Disturb for next Tasker update)
is for the new Android DND API. The Alarms Only option won't be available
till next Tasker update.

I am unable to open tasker unless my phone is portrait. Landscape it just will not open. Once open, you can then rotate the phone and the app follows.

I'm using android mashmellow on a nexus 5x fully updated, tasker latest version, and not rooted.

Think that's fixed in next update soon.

Pent,
Firstly, thanks for a great app! I have used the paid app for about the last six months on my phone and my wife's (both HTC One Max). I just bought the nexus 6 and have encountered the issue of WIFI tethering not activating either through the native option or secure settings. Is there any chance of a fix?

OK, I having trouble getting the logic of DND on my Nexus 6p in Tasker.

The DND command for Tasker has None, Alarms Only, Priority, and All. I assume:
* None means no interruptions; no sounds at all (but what about vibrations?)
* Priority means sounds from Priority apps
* All means, what? Total Silence?
* Alarms means only alarms.

What about vibration? At the office and other places I want no sounds but I want vibration on notification. What would I set in Tasker to get this?

I did search around the forum and found discussions of the DND options but not necessarily vibration (although I did see mention of Silent Mode is now for vibrations in Marshmallow, so maybe what I would use is All and Silent Mode to silence everything and just get vibrations?).

Thanks.

You really need to consult Android documentation about this, I'm just mirroring Android's settings.
All = anything can disturb, None = nothing.

Yes, Silent Mode is just for setting vibrations now (like what you get when you set volume zero in Android's
volume controls).

I have found this: https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/6111295?hl=en. However, I think the terms are different (e.g., total silence vs none). In any event, I think I have it. Thanks for the reply. I was just a bit confused yesterday when trying to re-set my Tasker profiles/tasks for Android 6.
