Manipulate XML like in PHP's SimpleXMLElement

Hello

is it possible or maybe planned to make Tasker reading and writing XML like in the PHP library SimpleXMLElement?
I have some xml settings file of a camera (FV-5), there is only one value I want to change through Tasker.
At the moment I change the whole file by file copy, but It could then be just some XML-commands like e.g.

$document = simplexml_load_file("/data/data/com.flavionet.android.camera.pro/shared_prefs/com.flavionet.android.camera.pro_preferences.xml");
$document['image_resolution'] = 7;
$document->asXML("/data/data/com.flavionet.android.camera.pro/shared_prefs/com.flavionet.android.camera.pro_preferences.xml");

Possible that?
