Dear Faculty, Colleagues and Friends,

Are your students interested in social change and workers’ rights? Would they like a scholarship to pursue an MA in Labor Studies or, a paid internship with a union?

At CUNY’s Murphy Institute, we offer two unique programs that provide students with tools for leadership, scholarship, and advocacy:  New York Union Semester and the Masters of Arts Degree in Labor Studies.

The Master’s Degree in Labor Studies
is ideal for those interested in labor or community organizing, law, government, non-profits, or academia.  We offer:

  • Evening classes in midtown Manhattan; affordable tuition;
  • A world class faculty and outstanding courses.

New York Union Semester is a mentored internship for college graduates and undergraduates at a union or worker organization. Interns take 4 labor studies courses, paying  NY in-state tuition rates, and they receive:

  • A $7,000 stipend and a Certificate in Labor Studies from SPS.

The Diversity Scholarship (for MA in Labor Studies or BA Urban and Community Studies candidates) aims to increase diversity in the labor movement leadership and in the field of Labor Studies. Please attend an open house to learn more.

Please help spread the word!  Post and forward the attached flyer to contacts and listservs.

 Info Sessions:  Oct. 7, Oct. 29,  Nov. 19

Thank you for your help!
