This article advances the theory of pheromones being the reason for it, which coincided with the comment I heard on the BBC. So this is the truth --or so it seems:

"...it is theorized by some that the hair exists for the purpose of getting soaked in potent mate-attracting pheromones."

And this proves religion wrong. They don't have a competing explanation for it.

The first thing I do when I have a question is to use Google, in this case
to find an answer to "why do we still have pubic hair"
It worked like magic:

If I could face God and challenge his creation, I'd ask him to remove our facial hair. And then we go bald first. Oh the irony of it all.

Mother Nature is wise but in other ways. She insures our survival as species but we came out pretty stupid. And that's the way it is.

Wise Men have been relegated to the role of asking the right questions and interpreting them. The rest is online.

God punished us to wear clothes after the original sin. That's clear in the Bible.

The less clothing the closer to God.

Sorry, my occasional visits to the nudist beach contradict that statistic.

But perhaps the question should be why don't we still have hair on the rest of our bodies. And noting that neutral drift probably plays a part in both questions.

Exactly...

P.Oxy 655i.17-23 (Thomas 37, Greek version 1000 years older than any Josephus, and older than any Mark, Matthew, Luke, or Paul scraps)...

His disciples said to him, "When will you be visible to us? And when will we see you?" He said, "When you undress and are not ashamed." © Andrew E. Bernhart 2000

God made our hair pattern change because It wanted to create different
species of lice using evolution.

See how much easier ID explains everything? That Evolution thingie is
just too hard to understand.

Evolution tends to makes sense, but God doesn't.

The tailbone is the perfect example. It all makes sense.

Only these hairy islands are most perplexing.

Back then it was only a robe that made you dressed. I don't think underwear was necessary. It was kind of cool and practical. No buttons or belt.

Then the fashion industry kicked in. If there was a paradise, everybody would wear the same robe. Or else everybody would be naked.
