The Augmented Model-Exchange Isomorphism (AMEI) has been updated to version 1.1 and is available at:


The updates to the AMEI have been motivated from two basic sources:

  -- The first source is comments form individual reviewers.  If you plan on reviewing the AMEI in detail you should be working with version 1.1.  We greatly appreciate the thoughtful comments we have received and will work to make the AMEI more understandable.  

  -- The second source is associated with changes necessary to make the AMEI more adaptable to specific types of mathematical forms and applications.

Version 1.1 was updated with larger structured graphs which contain the supporting connections on each transitive link.  A more complete set of labels and notes were added.  These changes were motivated by individual reviewer comments.

Version 1.1 was further updated by changing the Directed Graph heading to Structured Graph.  The term directed graph has many specific definitions that many create conflicts in understanding.  For example, Harary only allowed irreflexive relations in a directed graph.  Some authors do not allow more than one line or connection between graph nodes or vertices.  Therefore, each specific instance of an AMEI will specify these fundamental properties associated with the directed graph that is the structured graph for a specific AMEI.

Out next planned task is the mapping of the AMEI to the abstract relation type (ART) form.  This mapping will create the structured framework necessary to establish and populate a catalog of AMEI and ART form instances.  Typical system structuring approaches will be identified, placed in the proper group, documented and communicated to the systems science and system engineering community.

We are looking forward to  community involvement in mapping specific types of system structures to these fundamental system categories.
