SERC DOCTORAL STUDENTS FORUM
TUESDAY, NOV. 7, 2017
The SERC Doctoral Students Forum provides an opportunity for elected doctoral students conducting systems research at one of the SERC universities to present their topics in an open forum. This half-day event provides an opportunity for the attendees to have insights into on-going research, and to influence its direction while also meeting a number of doctoral students from the SERC universities. Last year, we saw a 66.7% increase in student presentations that showcased great innovation and maturity in research. A Best Student Paper is always awarded on the basis of potential impact, advancement to systems engineering, originality, technical content, and clarity of presentation. Congratulations to last year’s winner Eren Sakinc of Auburn University.
A networking reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres will immediately follow the event at 1700.
SERC SPONSORED RESEARCH REVIEW
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 8, 2017
This one-day, sponsor-focused event unites the government, industry, and academic systems engineering research community in order to share research progress and discuss the most challenging systems engineering issues today. The review highlights over twenty ongoing SERC research projects. Researchers from the SERC universities will discuss their research, highlight results, and describe opportunities for government agencies to sponsor and/or participate in their projects. Several of these research projects are ready for pilot use and transition to practice.

The program and sessions focus on the research results achieved in each of the four thematic areas of the SERC:
  • Trusted Systems
  • Enterprise Systems and Systems of Systems
  • Human Capital Development
  • Systems Engineering and Systems Management Transformation

Attendance is open to government, FFRDCs,
national laboratories, industry, and academic institutions.
Industry participants will have a nominal registration fee.
