Our electricity bill for the space arrived. It's over $1000 again.
We have done experiments and are convinced that we are responsible for a
frankly staggering amount of KWh used (as oppose to a meter reading
error or our circuit being connected to another unit).
To reduce our usage we've been putting the more hungry things like
aircon and vendo on timers. However the aircon has an issue. When power
is restored to it, it returns to it's last state. Which means that if it
happens to be on at 10pm on a Tuesday the aircon will restart at 10am
the following day when the timer restores power, and can potentially
stay on for 12 hours everyday until someone turns it off.
This is most likely what is causing the bill.
I'm going to put a "press here to turn on the Air con for 2 hours"
button by the door. After two hours it will send the ir command to turn off.
And that's where you come in.
I've built an IR capture circuit using IRlib and it's recognised every
device i have in the house. When i took it to the space, it did not
recognise the code from the aircon.
Has anyone had experience in building ir protocols from scratch or can
otherwise let me know the (arduino) code required to turn the aircon on
and off
raw output below.
The air conditioner is a
Panasonic CS-W24EKR (outdoor unit CU-W24EKR). The remote says Panasonic
but otherwise has not useful markings apart from A75C2624 4693 stamped
into the plastic on the back.

The aircon is Panasonic no obvious marking on remote, but on back is

see camera phone for air con model
Yep,
I built a wifi-to-ir bridge, I’ll see if I can hunt up the code
cheers
