Fwd: New Laser Cutter is now Online

So I brought the new laser cutter online this weekend.

It's much the same as the old one but its red so it's faster and also happens to be slight larger (500x700) while also reducing noise and hopefully easier to maintain.

There is effectively no change in work flow. A few people have already been able to operate it without any instructions although there are a few small changes so read on.

Software

The software is now called RDWorksV8 (logo ) and is nearly an exact copy LaserCAD with all of the same functions and near identical layout. To download click the download button (found in the same spot), it will ask for a name (currently "DEFAULT") just hit enter, It will then ask if you want to overwrite, hit enter again and you're done. 

Focusing 

​​As shown above first lower the bed (using the buttons on the right side of the machine i.e.  

 

​Keep lowering until the new focus stick hangs freely from the edge of the laser carriage. Next raise the bed until the focus stick falls over and stop. The bed is now in focus. ​

Also if you get this error

​​​The lid has been closed incorrectly. Try closing it again.

If you are the first or last person to use the laser please note that the florescent tube is independent to the switch on the front so has to be turn on/off with the main switch found on the side right of the machine
