Hey everyone,

I will be moving away from Chicago permanently in less than two months, which means that people other than me need to do things! If you want events to happen, just set a time and place and tell people about it – it’s not that scary, trust me! If you get a bunch of rationality-adjacent people together in a room, they just magically find things to talk about; the hard part is finding people, and we’ve already taken care of that!

It seems like people are pretty busy, so consider holding a monthly meetup, maybe on a weekend afternoon or evening (that’s when most of the survey respondents said they’re free). Somewhere more centrally located than UChicago would probably be ideal. If no one is able to commit to organizing this every time, you could just fix the time (e.g. first Sunday of every month) and rotate organizers.

If you want any tips on organization, information about people’s preferences, or anything else you think I might be able to provide, just contact me. I will continue to be available for this purpose even after I move away.

Also, feel free to hijack the regular Sunday meeting time and location to run your own event! Just contact me by Tuesday of the week you want to do the thing and I can help you publicize it. In particular I will not be able to run the May 14th or May 28th meetings, so that would be a good time for someone else to try their hand :)
