I myself essentially don't care what happens to the excess kit now,
assuming that SR gets the benefit of anything of value.
IMO there's also not a lot to gain (for anyone) from the decommissioned
boards themselves. If I were a hackerspace [0] I'd much prefer actual
development boards, which are substantially more robust than ours. The
only thing I can think of is if someone is planning a large installation
of something.
Unless there are actual existing plans for such a use, I can't forsee
any use for the boards, and the world is better off having them WEEE'd
now rather than hanging around indefinitely. YMMV.
