Hi,

The media scenario continues to develop: Sam has been talking to some
producers, and they're now looking to have a couple of people from a
couple of schools appearing on BBC Breakfast on the week of the 14th.
The most advanced part is that they'd like the robots to be operated
on-air (exact circumstances still being beaten).

I've been tying down some schools, after mailing some of the more
effective teachers, Headington and Cranbrook have been most forthcoming.
To get things off the ground, we'll be needing to send them some kit el
pronto, so that they can put their robots back together. Would someone
in Southampton:
a) have access to the kit
b) be able to pack up two kit boxes worth of kit, in batteries and
chargers
c) perform Reasonable (TM) testing that the kit works (doesn't need
to be exhaustive, if something breaks we'll ship them a replacement)
d) Ship them with interlink [0], I'll mail a shipping address to you.

Please reply-mail if you can make this happen.

[0] Money scenario'll be tied down in a bit, I'll underwrite it for the
moment.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I can make this happen.

Anyone in Southampton, if you’re around at approximately 4pm, I’ll be upstairs where the cupboard is preparing the kit boxes, and any help would be much appreciated.

Two kit boxes are tested and I think are ready to ship.

The inventory has been updated and if someone could just do a quick sanity check on what components have been placed in the boxes that would be good — to check I’ve not missed anything.

Stellar, thanks for pursuing this one.

Do these kits contain many spares of everything? These are not teams competing in a competition and we have very little time. If there are any issues then they should have spare parts to hand. I would suggest including at least double the normal quantity of every board.

Seems reasonable -- this means we'll definitely have to have the kit
back off them at the end of this media thing, there'll be no scope for
winging it with them keeping kit between media and KS. (Which is fine).

Hi,

At the moment they don’t but I can put some spare kit in before they ship.

Hi,

Do we have the deconstructed flags in Southampton? It'd be good to ship
one at these schools so that they have a concrete opportunity to test
things.

We’ve got a few development/prototype flags that were given out at tech days.

Hi guys,

This is progressing relatively smoothly: we've got two schools lined up
and confirmed for appearing on air with their robots, Headington and
Cranbrook. They're both high quality schools with high quality students
(CRB in fact won the committee award due to their good engineering).
Thanks for people who've beaten kit for this.

The operating-robots-on-air stuff still needs tying down, but there's a
"performance area" that they'll be working in. It's possible that these
two teams may need some programming support -- I'll keep you posted if
details emerge.

The broadcast date has been set for the 18th of Sept on BBC Breakfast.
