I'm sad to see citkeane go.  (Hopefully I'm wrong and he isn't gone...) He was a great editor and I hope he will remain around creating quizzes!  His published quizzes to created quizzes rate was one of the highest I've ever seen, marking his great ability to create great quizzes.

Yeah, he's sticking around, just decided to retire from being an Editor.

Thanks to citkeane for his fabulous work as an Editor (and not just with the Geography category). Congrats to beforever and MovieGuru on their promotions, as I'd say they are both getting a bigger category than they previously had. I wonder who will be the new Editor for Holiday, as I assume mselby is an interim replacement?

Yup, geo and lit are certainly in great hands, no doubt about it!

Can't adequately express my appreciation of citkeane, and cover all the positive things about his contributions to the site as a leader and role-model. They range from the consistent high quality of his quizzes (and setting pleasing standards in terms of quiz styling and color-schemes), his long and productive stint as Word Ladder curator (among other things) and willingness to work with and nurture contributors; and of course his editorships. And let's not forget the very inspirational Quizathon which encouraged all of us to tackle categories we may not have been comfortable with or willing to tackle beforehand.

Thanks, citkeane, and as has been voiced, glad you'll still be with us as a contributor.

I would echo Pause's words of appreciation for citkeane.  When I first started on Sporcle, he was one of the biggest influences on me, both in inspiration from the high quality of his quizzes and in direct assistance via email, second only to NAPB himself.

Well said, Napb. (I should have those three words engraved on a plaque or something.) Citkeane's contributions to this site as an editor/curator have been immensely rewarding for all of us. I was even hoping he would take over JFF when I retired from the category. Ah well. Since he is now dead (or retired from editing, I forget which), I must instead keep at it until another suitable replacement presents itself. But whoever they are, I will undoubtedly find myself saying to them "you, sir or madam, are very good, but you are no citkeane." (And they will say, "who cares what you think? I have your job now. lolololololol" At least that's what I imagine the exchange to be. In any case, you'll be missed, buddy.

Just read the tragic news that citkeane is dead (or at least that's what I think Dru said, and I believe everything Dru says). According to napb, he died as a result of injuries sustained from a tackle during the quizathon. I certainly hope this will finally push the NFL into doing something about concussions in Sporcle quizzes. I think I also read that he's being buried in an igloo. That seems fitting since I believe that he was Archduke of the Eskimo people.

So sad. So much talent wasted at such a young age. He was a great quizmaker, and few people know that he had a long career in Mongolian professional water polo. Or that he was special UN ambassador to the planet Vulcan. Or that he fought alongside Sancho Villa. Or that he discovered the 27 medical uses for gecko fur.

Quite a man he was.

I am really perplexed!  According to Hejman citkean is buried in iglew's backyard.  I never even knew they were friends.  Is the backyard burial the result of iglew's residence being built on an ancient Indian Burial Ground?  If so, I hope it is the Pet Sematary.  Even coming back a little twisted, citkean would still be a great asset to Sporcle.

citkeane here, all the way from the Sporcle afterlife - it's pretty cold here you guys. Luckily my time in the Arctic prepared me for such conditions and I have many gecko fur coats at my disposal. More seriously, many thanks for the nice messages. I'll still be around making quizzes and chilling out in the Sporcle editors retirement village (now that's a real thing!). Have been pretty busy these past few months and the switch to Geography proved too much of a time commitment in the end. Glad to see it in the more than capable hands of beforever. I'm sure he'll do a great job (MovieGuru too!).

So, when's the reading of the will?

Seriously, citkeane took the time to make substantial helpful and encouraging comments on the very first quiz I ever submitted (yes, it was a word ladder).  I am forever indebted.  And I hope he left me some cool stuff.

Congrats to a stellar contributor and soon-to-be a stellar editor, khands. Great person to have in this role. The occasion should be celebrated with some sort of, er, um, special day of some kind...

Excellent choice, congrats khands.

I must add that I'm glad Google are translating these messages, my Punjabi is a bit rusty.
