I had an idea for a log where we can keep track of our progress on the Dean's List badge. Whenever one gets an Editor's pick in a new category, just post it here.

I have three Editor's picks, all in different categories: Language, Religion, and as of today, History.

Sports is going to be hardest for me, but I have a couple ideas that just might be worthy.

I have at least a CP in every category.  I have not earned an EP in either movies or geography, but I have a lot of quizzes in both categories and some that I consider to be very good, so I remain hopeful for an EP soon.  I don't think I will earn a science EP without help, but you never know, I am real weak at gaming and religion and earned and EP with just 1 game in each category, so anything is possible.  That just leaves language, I have a few language quizzes, only 1 that I think is close to EP caliber, but I am part of Beforever's language project and hope to get my EP from that.

Many talk about the thrill of a publish and that is really huge, but EPs and CPs are very special, because I consider Curators my peers and Editors to be the type of quiz evaluators that I aspire to be and individuals in both groups can help me so much and have helped me in both individual quizzes and in my overall quiz making.  Recognition from peers or colleagues is not why I Sporcle, but I must admit, in any aspect of life, such recognition is a great and humbling feeling.  As I have created more quizzes that I think are good and/or creative, the goal of the Dean's List or lots of plays has faded for me.  At one time I would have done anything just for a lot of plays, but one of my most played quizzes is not very good and I wish I had never created it.  When I created it, it was with the intention that it would receive many plays and quality was not a concern.  Still, the Dean's List remains enough of a goal that I have posted in this thread.

This brings me to the last part of my post.  I hope those in this thread will work with others in this thread to help hone and refine each other's quizzes, towards everyone's goal of  Dean's List.  Most of us are Curators and have already agreed to help fellow quiz makers.  With out help from NJSB, popestcyril and napb, great ideas that I have had in History and Religion, probably would not have been Editor's picks, but they were close.  I am not suggesting anyone does a quiz for someone else.  I just belive that sometimes it takes a collaborative effort to make a great idea a great game.  I would be glad to review test links and make suggestions, in areas where any of you have a good quiz or great quiz idea that you may think needs a little tweaking.  I am not promising that I can help, but I can at least give it a shot.  I believe with a little help, many of us could make the Dean's list at some point in time.

Quick question regarding the Dean's List. I got my literature EP during the quiz contest and when citkeane made it an EP it was still in the Literature category.  Now it is in the Just For Fun category, not moved by me.  Will I have to re-earn a literature EP or will it still count?  \

if you can still edit the game, it probably just won't be published today. On my only publish, I think RobPro was the one who added a cross link to it, as well as EP'ing it. Of course, it was published a few weeks later. But after the cross link was added, I could still edit the game (until it was published)

After looking through it, the title now has a "II" at the end which was never there before and a cross-link to (what I'm assuming) is the first.  Thanks for your help guys!

If memory serves, one of the main reasons druhutch created the Multi-Category Word Ladder Contest was to help people get a little closer to the Dean's List badge, so the EP definitely still counts in the category it was originally picked (although obviously it won't count as a Literature publish toward a future Crazy Ivan as the game will be published as a JFF game).

Yeah, what citkeane said--and that was indeed the impetus for the contest. So as far as the Dean's List badge goes, EPs count in the category they were originally given regardless of whether or not the quizzes are moved. (This only started when the Dean's List badge was invented--for any EP'ed quizzes released before that they were only counted towards the category where they ended up, if you follow.) So you're all good, teddy.

Yeah, that's what happened to one of my word ladders that got published. One day I saw it had "II" after the title, and thought "Now why on earth did I think that was a sequel for something?". It was also a quiz for the word ladder contest a while back.

Usually, when I see or hear of a change, I think a publish is coming.  That is not always true.  My first EP was picked and did fine, but after couple of days, one hint and answer were replaced seemingly for censorship reasons.  I try to be careful and inoffensive, the answer was pretty innocuous and there are far worse things in other quizzes that have not been censored.  I suspect there was one or more complaints and the quiz was easily changed without any effect on the quiz's integrity, so replacement makes sense, regardless of severity.  I suffered no repercussions and the quiz was not pulled.  I assume because the hint and answer were very mild and clearly not intended to offend.  

I also had a missing word quiz moved from movie to JFF just the other day.  I thought a publish was coming, but I think that is now unlikely.  The reason I think it is unlikely is that my quiz is missing word: John Candy Movies.  That is a suitable quiz, but the next missing word quiz in the daily dose was CCCP's Missing Word: SCTV alum quiz and John Candy is an SCTV alum.  I can't see them publishing two quizzes so similar.     At least not so close together  by date of publish.

On the other hand, just a few days ago, a Title of one of my quizzes changed and that change was published within 24 hours.  When I saw the name change, I knew the publish was coming.

Congratulations, I loved that quiz when it was created and just realized how few plays it earned at that time.  Perhaps because it is seasonal, but I am glad a lot more people should get the opportunity to enjoy it.

After a quick look, I seem to be missing Sport, Holiday, TV and Language.

I'm yet to come up with a quiz for Language, and have only 1 in Holiday. These are the categories I struggle for ideas the most.

Additionally, I watch next to no Television, so I'm always stuck for ideas there.

I'm sure I'll keep at it though!
