In conjunction with an influential individual at the Detroit Tigers-themed website blessyouboys.com, I've arranged for one Tigers quiz to be prominently promoted on their site per week. So far, this promotion has roughly netted each quiz at least a couple hundred plays. Obviously, in order maintain the series (which is great free advertising for Sporcle), I will need a deep base of available quizzes. Therefore, if you have any Detroit Tigers quizzes that you consider worthy of promotion, please email me, your friendly neighborhood self-appointed Detroit Tigers curator, at chargi...@gmail.com. Also, please consider making more quizzes. If they're any good, I'll probably wind up using them eventually!

Please allow me to reiterate this request. I will note that the quiz that was featured for this week has garnered over 400 plays.

I will add that I had a quiz featured last week it went from around 100 plays to over 3000.  Here is a link: http://www.sporcle.com/games/DesertSpartan/oscar-stanage-played-one-for-the-red-legs-1095-for-the-tigers

Can you use a slideshow game?

It appears that slideshow quizzes cannot be embedded, so I'm afraid I can't use a slideshow.

Here is my latest - a simple This or That style quiz about the Tigers appearances in the World Series...

That's a good one. However, you have the Tigers playing in the 1908 World Series twice!

Thanks Charging Tiger - I just made the change (before reading this post actually - someone else caught it in the comments section of the quiz too). No matter how many times you double-check a quiz, little things like that always make it through...haha

Just as a note for future reference, matching clickable quizzes cannot be embedded and therefore can't be used at BYB.

Tigers Quiz idea up for grabs:

This idea just arose from the goofy-idea-center of my brain, and I don't know how well it would go over, it could be a hit or miss. Apart from its oh-so-cute-title, the quiz itself should be workable and feasible.

I don't have the time to make it, so if anyone wants to, it's yours (but you should post below that you plan to, if so).

It would be a clickable quiz, with a field of correct answers along with numerous decoys -- surnames of players who were relatively well-known from other teams along with a few lesser-knowns.

The title: "Tony the Detroit Tiger"  -- so if the powers-that-be at that Tigers website have a sense of humor, it could strike a chord, who knows.

Players would have to pick the surnames of all of the players named Tony who actually did play for the Tigers.

I can't say this is necessarily the best source for correct answers, but it could work for starters if it is verified (do a control+F for "Tony"):  http://detroit.tigers.mlb.com/det/history/players.jsp

One option could also be to restrict the quiz to a more recent era  (say, "since 1960")... if any of the older real players would be too obscure.

If anyone does claim the idea and wants pre-contribution testing, I'll help out, just e-mail me.  :)

I know you are missing at least 2; Denny McLain in 1966 and Earl Wilson in 1967.  Still, a good quiz.

I took a look at it, and it only came up with 8 Tony the Tigers, 2 that I would say are relatively well-known (TC and TP) plus a third I would say is good (TB).  A good idea, but I don't know if it's enough to go on.

Well, it was probably just a flaky (and frosted) idea then    :)

Plus bonus answer for Anthony Gose?

Oddly enough, the Tigers haven't had a single Tony (or Anthony) pitch for them.  Quite an accomplishment.  Though there haven't been a lot of notable pitching Tony's anyway.

Here is my latest, I made guess in order, to prevent just throwing in the usual names, although a couple of names are not so usual.

Thanks DesertSpartan  I added those and also found I missed one of Joe Coleman's 20 game seasons.

Here's another Tiger one even though the season is almost over.  http://www.sporcle.com/games/DrCbus/mlb-detroit-tigers-320-total-bases
