This has just become an issue for me, but once I open up the comments on any quiz, this ad doesn't move down and blocks the right side of the section.

Has this been happening to anyone else?

Report it as a bug, with your operating system version and browser version. Admin doesn't want ads that interfere with the operation of the site, so they will act on it.

Agreed, please report that to feedback as a bug and include the information Caramba said.  That should not be doing that (and doesn't do that on any of my machines that I just checked out).

Thanks very much,
John

Anyone else getting the fun and noisy Fleet Farm ad with the spray painting deer?

MovieGuru: Surprisingly, no! Especially since I live smack dab in their distribution area and have been bombarded with their advertising on other web sites for a decade.

The worst ones are the ones that appear at the bottom of the screen and don't go away until you click close. I sometimes leave my mouse in a part of the screen and if I hover over the ad while playing a quiz it goes full screen and I have to find the tiny little X that sometimes never exists (making me reload the page). It really frustrates me.

Fusty: I've always hated those. I always click them away, but then my cursor's not in the answer field, and so I have to click back there just to play my quiz. Very annoying, I wish those would go away.

There's also those video ones near the bottom of the page that'll start randomly during a quiz, those are a pain too.

<<< These ones.

I agree, those are annoying. But I honestly try not to let them bother because advertisements make Sporcle money, and money keeps Sporcle awesome! So I'm fine with advertisements.

I dont know whether this is an ad, but I hate it when I try and go back a page and it wont let me until I go back like 50 pages

I always thought that happened to me because I am using IE 8 and that an actual good browser would take care of it. Does anyone else get this behaviour with other browsers? I'm pretty sure it's caused by Google collecting info during a page redirect. Your original link actually links to an intermediate page, which quickly gathers information. Then sends you to your destination, usually without you noticing. However, when you hit the back button, it brings you back to the redirect page which gathers the info and sends you forward again.

There oughtta be a law.

I use Chrome. I don't have this issue ever Sporcle, but when I go to the ESPN website I can never go back to home with a simple click on the back button. I right click on the back button, and click on the link two links down. I have no idea what it is; I thought it was an ESPN bug but it must be more than that if people are experiencing it on Sporcle with multiple browsers.

I don't have this issue on Sporcle, but when I search something on Google it keeps happening (Firefox).

I always use Chrome. I haven't really noticed it happening on Sporcle, but that does happen almost all the time with a lot of other websites. I think that's probably because of cookies or something like that, or maybe just that they register it as a reload or something when you click certain things.

Well it didn't take long for those new side bar ads to become annoying. Now the ads are larger and shift the game play screen just enough to the right to cause issues. Please stop this Sporcle.

Absolutely. When it was just ads down the side, I was OK with them. What's worse is that they are the same adverts as before, and I know they don't need the space.

Fear not. Things should be back to normal within the hour. If you still see them later today write me directly and let me know.

Thanks and sorry for the trouble.

Are the pop-up ads along the top new?  I believe they must be because I don't remember the game-play shifting downwards the way it does now.  Extremely annoying when you attempt to click on something that is no longer there, but has been replaced by an advertisement.

Well, there is your problem.

We cannot guarantee the Sporcle experience when 3rd party plugins such as this are installed. Sorry.
