Plan for sphinx-1.5 release

Hi developers,

I'm planning to release Sphinx-1.5 (alpha|beta|final) as below.

* Sphinx-1.5a1: middle of Sept.

* Sphinx-1.5a2: end of Sept.

* Sphinx-1.5b1: middle of Oct.

* Sphinx-1.5-final: end of Oct. or middle of Nov.

Alpha is: Evaluation period for new features. We will have a2 and a3 if it is needed.

Beta is: Feature freeze. Call for translation

Nonetheless, many tickets are still exist for version 1.5.

If it didn’t meet the deadline, I'll postpone the non-closed issues/PRs to next alpha version or next major version.

I have a couple of small autodoc related pull requests fixing bugs that are still present in Sphinx 1.5a1. Could I get these merged before 1.5 final?

Sorry for late response.

I just marked the milestone of your PRs to 1.5.

I can't promiss it will certainly be merged into 1.5 release. Because I'm not good at autodoc module.

But I'll do my best.

Will the experimental _templates/latex.tex_t feature (http://www.sphinx-doc.org/en/master/latex.html) work in 1.5? Is there a plan to document it?

Hi,

Yes, templating in LaTeX builder works in 1.5 (also 1.5a1!). It's new feature of Sphinx-1.5.

As the manual said, it is still experimental and unstable. So I would not update the page for a while.

It will be documented in *future* version (maybe in 1.6 or 1.7?).

Hi,

Today, I and @shimizukawa discussed about release plan for 1.5.

As a result, we rescheduled as below:

• Sphinx-1.5a2: in this weekend (Oct. 16)
• Sphinx-1.5b1: Nov. 5th or 6th
• Sphinx-1.5-final: end of Nov.

So all our work in develop should finished until Nov. 5th. After that, no new features should not be implemented. Only bug fixes are allowed.

Please let me us if you got errors with your docs and extensions.

From now on, we use "1.5-release" branch to fix a bugs.

In addition, "1.5-release" branch is in feature freeze.

If you have any ideas, please add them to master branch.
