Using SpatiaLite with the Clion IDE

I am using Clion IDE which uses MinGW compiler internally as well as Cmake which means that it uses CMakelists.txt.
Has anyone successfully used SpatiaLite with Cmake ? Could you point me to the right direction or perhaps upload
a sample project for me to download ? I am having a really hard time making SpatiaLite work with Clion.
