Where to apply your Scala-fu

If you're beyond the tutorial projects and don't have the opportunity to apply your Scala-fu at work, what other opportunities are out there for developers looking to take their Scala skills to another level:

1. Find a new/contract work that includes the opportunity for Scala development 

2. Working on Open Source Scala based projects.

The second option is something that I'd like to explore & discuss further, with the first option being a goal.
