Greetings and salutations!
I hope the new year finds you all well!
If you haven't already heard, SOUPA is hosting a league this winter for the first time ever!
We are calling it ... Winter League! Whoa!
It is going to be held at US Cellular Field #14, (it is a grass turf field, so we don't kill the real grass while it is wet and dormant). We will likely be playing mini-ultimate, which is not much different than regular ultimate, but the field is smaller and play doesn't stop as often. It is possible and likely we follow up each week with a full pick-up game of 7s.
I know, I also can't wait to play. The more the merrier! That is, the more people, AND the more ultimate, the merrier. So, here is how to make this all happen.
Here is a direct link to the form:
And a direct link to the paypal account:
League starts on January 12th, this coming Sunday, at 3pm.
Here is what I need from you:
First, sign up. SOUPA will give a free new disc to everyone who registers and pays by Friday Jan 10, 2020, at 11:59:59pm PST. The draft will be happening Saturday, and it is a much simpler process if people are registered. At this point, I don't know how many teams we will have, and there are no captains.
Second, share this with people you know who might be interested. It is always better to tell more people about it than you think might be interested. This isn't a conspiracy, a new religion, or a diet; they won't think you are weird. Just remember, everyone wants to play ultimate, you just need to tell them when to show up.
Third, get with the long term goal. We as a community want to grow by bringing in new players and having as many opportunities as possible for players of all skill levels to come out and have fun. This league is an experiment, but the only way it will fail is if you don't come to help us shape it into something better. Maybe you are new to ultimate, maybe you have moved it to the back burner, but it didn't take long for you to realize that this game and this community is different from everything else out there. It is possible you are going to have a ton of fun, make some new friends, and finally get in some good handling practice to advance your game to the next level. If nothing else, you will actually exercise this winter and be way ahead of where you were last year for Spring League and Tournament season.
I say, having two successful Rogue Valley teams for Cramp Up starts now.
Who is with me! Yeaaaah! Charge! PLAY ULTIMATE! etc.
