Below is a five on five tournament at US Cellular. Head on down there and cheer on the firefighters!

Kellen,

We've firmed up the field location of US Cellular Fields. We were only able to field 4 teams, so were going to roll with a round robin, and the top two advancing for a finals.

Thanks for your assistance.

Awesome, thanks for the info, we would love to have you out. We're looking at Monday, May 14th, 0930. Location TBD, but probably US Cellular fields. It's generally a pretty competitive group of guys with a mixed level of experience, so we are really going to have to emphasize the no contact aspect. If you make it, we would love to hear your experience which might help drive that point home.

I'll let you know if we have any more questions.

Thanks again and hope to get out on a Sunday soon,

Bryan

Wow, Bryan!

Good for you! I would love to see what you guys put together. You should tell me what time y'all are putting on the tournament or playing, and I would love to attend.

There are 5 on 5 tournaments out there, and the less players you have, the field decreases in size. See this website for some rules:

http://whistler5on5.com/5-on-5-rules/

But that is pretty much for regular ultimate players. If you want to encourage newbies, I would make the field a little bigger and then make your own rules to accommodate fun. If you want strict competition, then I would stick to the website.

Anyway, I would start there. And, games can end at whatever point score you want. If you don't have a ton of subs, then I would make the games shorter. A game to fifteen may or may not exhaust the few people playing in one game.

And if you want a tournament style, even numbered amount of teams are always good.

If I think of more, I will let you know.

Kellen,

Hey there, this is Bryan Cohee, we've met a few times at the Sunday pickup games. I work for the fire department and we've talked in the past about recruiting some FF's to the games.

Anyway, we have a local FF's sports group that has organized flag football and 3 on 3 basketball tourneys the last few years. I would like introduce ultimate into our tourney schedule. I was hoping you might be able to assist with a few of the questions we have, those that will pop up, and any suggestions you might have.

We're thinking 4 or 5 person teams with a bench would be the what we could pull off for recruiting. If that's the case what sized field would you recommend? I was thinking first to 15 by 2, with hopes to for each team to play at least 3 games? Best place to look up a simple version of rules, we want to keep it simple and fair for a bunch of amateurs and possible first timers?

Any other suggestions you have?

Thanks,

Bryan
