Hi,

as the ESP8266 has been in the latest months the most used platform with Souliss, some has been in trouble with the use of the latest IDE and cores.

The Arduino IDE and cores are getting updates very frequently and the last Souliss release v7.1.1 is 10 months old, giving troubles to people that compiles that code with latest IDEs and cores.

As general rule, in the Supported Cores page of the wiki are listed the cores and IDE supported for each release. Using Souliss v7.1.1 you should use the Arduino IDE 1.6.5 and 1.6.5-1160-gef26c5f cores.
The v7.1.1 is the stable release for Souliss and is available in the Library Manager.

If you wish to use newer IDE and cores, than you should instead use Souliss v.7.2.0 that is actually available as RC only and cannot be downloaded from the Library Manager.

Here a procedure:
1) Download the Arduino IDE 1.6.12 for non admin install for Windows, and unzip it. Ensure that you haven't too many nested folders, as this may lead your IDE to fail compile the code.
2) Enter into the Arduino IDE folder, you should see the "arduino.exe" file, before start the IDE create a folder called "portable" and then run the IDE.
3) Your IDE will start in portable mode, so that cores and libraries will be located in the IDE folder itself. This allow you also to have multiple IDEs with different configuration.
4) In the File->Preferences add http://arduino.esp8266.com/stable/package_esp8266com_index.json into Additional Board Manager URLs field.
5) Open Boards Manager from Tools > Board menu and install ESP8266 platform select version 2.3.0 for the cores.
6) Download manually Souliss v7.2.0 RC from github using the following link https://github.com/souliss/souliss/archive/720_rc.zip
7) Unzip and copy souliss in the portable/sketchbook/libraries folder of the IDE
8) Restart the IDE.

You can now follow the Getting Starting procedure from the Souliss wiki.

Enjoy,
Dario.

Actually the 7.2.0 is available directly from the library manager and you don't need to install the library manually.

You don't need an url (is only for boards), open the library manager and type souliss.

Unfortunately yes.
Using IDE 1.6.12 you can find the souliss library in the library manager. Tested and installed some weeks ago. BUT i was using the portable edition (the zip in a folder and create a folder named.... portable). Maybe installing over previous versions is problematic?
