If anyone knows of articles/papers looking at the impact of the "green revolution" on the Middle East, please share the references. If there's anything specific to Syria, that would be helpful. Thanks.

I don't know of a particular article but I know the Organic Consumers (Association? Organization?) has written about it in their email messages.

I think the baker creek seed catalog includes seeds from syria. they
have a person collecting heritage seeds who,i think,is syrian. they
are trying to preserve that which they can from being replaced by
corporate seeds/ genetically engineered. they seem very enthusiastic
and i think communicative.
