SockJS for WebSocket benefit

Hi all,
What is the real big benefit of SockJS today, when all modern browsers support WebSocket directly?

Benefits:
1) Non-modern browser support
2) Works through some firewalls that might not work otherwise
The benefits may not seem that big to you, but (as long as you have
server support) the cost is very small: just drop in a JS library.
