Origin of the word: "CADDYWHOMPUS"

Best Answer: Usually spelled "caddywhompus" or "caddywompus," it means crooked, or messed up. It dates back to the 1880s and is probably a combination of the French "quatre" (or four) and the Scot word "wampish" meaning "to wriggle or twist."

I would have guessed it would have some Native American origins.
It is used more often in the South and Midwest
