I have recently discovered the possibility that Richard M. Nixon (37th
President of the U.S.) was an eighth cousin, once removed, of mine. (I've
already found that Hubert H. Humphrey, whom R.M.N. defeated in the 1968
elections, was a sixth cousin, once removed, so this provides an
interesting political balance). The book "A Noble Son: Spencer W.
Kimball," published by the Institute of Family Research, Salt Lake City,
claims that R.M.N. is descended from William Brinton (c. 1636 - 1700) and
Ann Bagley Brinton (c. 1636 - 1699). The claimed descent is as follows:

William Brinton (c. 1636 - 1700) + Ann Bagley (c. 1636 - 1699)
|
Elizabeth Brinton (1665 - ?) + Hugh Harry (? - ?)
|
John Harry (1697 - 1763) + ?
|
Miriam Harry (1727 - 1809) + Record Hussey (? - 1784)
|
Lydia Hussey ( 1757 - 1843) + Jacob Griffith (1757 - 1841)
|
Amos Griffith (c. 1798 - 1871) + Edith Price (1801 - 1873)
|
Elizabeth Price Griffith (1827 - 1923) + Joshua Vickers Milhous (1820 -
1893)
|
Franklin Milhous (1848 - 1919) + Almira Park Burdg (1849 - 1943)
|
Hannah Milhous (1885 - 1967) + Francis Anthony Nixon (1878 - 1956)
|
Richard Milhous Nixon (1913 - 1994)

The GEDCOM file available on the net containing presidential genealogy, and
that claims to be adapted from Funk & Wagnells Special Edition "The
Presidents", stops at Miriam Harry and doesn't show her parentage. Is
Miriam Harry's descent from William and Ann Brinton controversial? Can
anyone throw light or water on that hypothosis?
