*Free* Pittsburgh South Hills Genealogy Day & Pancake Festival

Date: Sunday, April 23, 2017
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Join us for a *free* day of genealogy programming, with demonstrations
and discussions of online resources and time to ask questions about
your research with our lecturers. Attendees can also enjoy All-You-
Can-Eat pancakes and eggs at the Pancake Festival in the next room for
a nominal fee during out Brunch Break.

- You can use more than your desktop computer to enhance
your family history research capabilities! Learn about the latest
technology for searching, organization, archiving, preservation, and
communication. More than just "googling."
- Presenter: Rebecca Kichta Miller, Western Pennsylvania
Genealogical Society Board of Directors and Editor.

10:15 a.m. – "Nuts & Bolts of Genealogy"
- Looking for your roots? Don’t know where to start or
can't get by that brick wall? Come and learn "The Nuts & Bolts of
Genealogy."
- Presenter: Ken Bravo, VP of the International Association
of Jewish Genealogical Societies, Past President of the Jewish
Genealogy Society of Cleveland, member of the Ohio Genealogical
Society and East Ohio Genealogical Society.

11:45 a.m. – "Researching Offline: Pennsylvania Resources Old & New"
- Learn about resources for Pennsylvania research that are
not readily available or easily found, but are extremely helpful to
the researcher who wants to "dig deep."
- Presenter: Marilyn Cocchiola Holt, MLS, Department Head
of the Pennsylvania Department of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh,
Program Chair and President-Elect of the Western Pennsylvania
Genealogical Society, Honorary VP Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania.

1:00 p.m. – "Trace Your Family History Using DNA (The Basics)"
- Learn about how DNA tests have opened the door to
discovering your genetic makeup, your ancient origins, and potential
family relationships.
- Presenter: Andrew Hochreiter, Med, MIS, instructor at
Howard Community College in Columbia, MD, member National Genealogy
Society, Association of Professional Genealogists, and the Guild of
One Name Studies.
