Merle Kastner asked:
Does anyone have suggestions for Jewish research in Slovakia (formerly
part ofCzechoslovakia)? There is no SIG that addresses this area, but
there was a sizeable Jewish population at one time.

Merle...you might try the austrian-czech SIG and also the hungarian
SIG directly...but mostly i went to google and queried: slovakia +
jewish + genealogy
(the plus sign means the term must be included in the results).

i found:
JewishGen:
1-kehilalinks has about 15 cities..in Slovakia
2-Community Pages...there are many from current day Slovakia. You can
easily see the list if you put in any town and then click on slovakian
towns or go tohttp://www.jewishgen.org/communities/trees/# and query
towns in Slovakia today

3-our own Vivian Kahn was co author of: JEWISH FAMILY RESEARCH IN
SLOVAKIA at http://www.jewishgen.org/Hungary/Slovak%20Resources%20Guide%20Rev.pdf
4-try the discussion group archives and the flat file JewishGen search
at http://www.jewishgen.org/JewishGen/Search.asp

(from google)
1-Familysearch has https://familysearch.org/wiki/en/Slovakia_Jewish_Records
2-JewishGen's Hungarian country database has records for Slovakia
3-research in slovakia:
http://www.centroconsult.sk/genealogy/resources.html
4-ancestry has slovakian records...incl the 1869 census, try
http://search.ancestry.com/Places/Europe/Slovakia/Default.aspx
5-http://www.slovak-jewish-heritage.org/history-of-jews-in-slovakia.html
