Our family history has my greatgrandfather's grandfather, a R' Israel
of Ostrow ( a follower of R' Yehoshua HESCHEL of Apta) coming to
Eretz Yisrael (Palestine) somewhere around 1830-1840. He lived for
some years in Tveria &/or Tzfat and later (after the earthquake in
Tzfat ?) moved to Jerusalem. He came on his own, his grandson (my
greatgrandfather) R' Yacov Gedalia SCHECHTER came many years after him

The family theory is that his family name was ROSENBAUM and his children in Europe
changed their name to SCHECHTER as to their professions (Shochtim).

In the book "Tveria" (in hebrew which came out I believe in the 1960s
or 70s, there is a list of family names of people who lived in Tveria
but unfortunately there is no mention of first names or when they lived there
or from what sources the author took the names. In the list there does
appear a ROZENBAUM but as mentioned, gives no information regarding this person.

Does anyone have any information regarding the above ROZENBAUM
mentioned in the book "Tveria" .

TIA.
