In my great greatuncle's (R' Chaim Dov KANTOR of Zichron Yaacov and Sheya in
Israel) he mentions that the Rabbi of Karlin (in the mid 19th cent.) Rabbi
Mordechai (RUDINER ?) was a "she'er b'saro" (in Hebrew "relative") of his
family. My uncle uses the word "Rudiner" (or Ruzhiner) rather than giving
the Rabbi's family name. and From some reseach and correspondence, I am
assuming that thus Rabbi Mordechai was a member of the ZACKHEIM family. Rabbi
Mordechai came to Karlin from Ruzhin and probably hedescribes the Rabbi by
the town he came from.

I am wondering if anyone knows of the connection between the KANTOR family
(my ancestor was Shlomo KANTOR and his wife Sarah Hinde ) and the ZACKHEIMs,
specifically the Rabbi stated above.

I have seen George SACKHEIM's "the Scattered Seeds" and had contacted him
many years ago without finding the connection there. One possible lead is
that , I understand that the above Rabbi Mordechai had been a student at the
Volozhin Yeshiva and according to family sources, Sarah Hinde was somehow
related to the "Volozhin" family.
