Fold3.com, a member of the Ancestry family of companies is offering free
access to its Civil War collection through April 15 to commemorate the
beginning of the Civil War in 1961. The collection has 50 titles with more
than 91 million records.

You will be required to register with your name and email address, no credit
card information is required. Go to: https://go.fold3.com/civilwar. When
you do your search, the results will show records that are free access will
be marked Free with a green background. When you open the file and if you
want to save it or print it, click on the "view larger" icon and when the
record opens larger, on the top right of the screen is an icon that looks
like tools. Roll your mouse over that icon and you will see a drop down box
which permits one to download to their computer or print the document.

To view the Civil War Records Collection go to:
https://www.fold3.com/browse/249/
And click on Civil War and the list of records in 50 Civil War Collections
appears. You will see the word "free" next to the collection. If you try
to browse other collections not covered under this free offer you will be
invited to subscribe which requires a credit card.

Fold 3.com does permit several areas of access with your free registration
that are outside of the Civil War Collection. This permits you to search and
browse but not view nor download certain collections, and you can create
your own memorial. Note the 7-day free trial that may be offered does
require a credit card which you will be charged for a membership following
the 7 days if you do not cancel before the 7 day trial is up.

I have no affiliation with Ancestry nor any of its subsidiary companies,
including Fold3.com and am posting this solely for the information of the
reader.
