Michael ORLOW from Cherson, Russia

hi,
I've never had to do any genealogical research in Russia. Michael
"Misha" ORLOW (ORLOF) (ORLOV?) from Cherson, Russia was my mom's
first cousin's father. His great granddaughter found a postcard
written in German, sent to her grandmother in the US in 1945 from a
"Jack". Jack speaks about being asked to play the violin at a
hospital. Miriam's great-grandfather was a Violinist for the Vienna
symphony orchestra for awhile.

Miriam asked me to see if I can find some information about her
grandfather's family, perhaps finding a link to Jack. All we know is
Misha Orlow came from Russia and I found his birthdate November 22,
1882 on JOWBR. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I could
start. I found only about Michael on ancestry.com, nothing that would
indicate a family member.
