Friends,

Although none of the families I have been researching over the years
has been Rabbinic, I have always been aware of the giant of this
genre. Neil Rosenstein has made this field his life's work and
continues to do so through this very Discussion Group. Neil's book(s)
The Unbroken Chain is not only the classic but is truly the most
complete of all such works.

Anyone discovering Dynastic Rabbinic Roots in his background is
encouraged to visit his large public library to study this work. Of
course, call first to make sure it is available or it can be arranged
for by inter-library loan.

There you will find an extensive list of sources.
It is wise to wise a number of sources and compare what may be differing
opinions of the authors.

Furthermore one should seek the most basic, original sources rather than
simply relying on the convenience of English language sources which reflect
the understanding and personal translation of the authors.

Over the last decade or so several researchers have conducted critical
research which some times disproves earlier theories.

These include Rabbi Shlomo Englard, Rabbi Naftali Aharon Wekstein, Benyamin
Pantliat http://toladot.blogspot.co.il/ Yaron Pedahzur
https://generatree.wordpress.com/ and who publish their research in the
Charedi press or subscibable emails.
