Two weeks ago, I sent an e-mail to the listserve with a link to a
scanned book which listed people in New York City who had supported
the communist party, causes, or candidates in local or state
elections, for 1939-1940. The book had been published by HUAC, the
House [of Representatives] Un-American Activities Committee, and was
therefore in the public domain as a government document.

Several people wrote that they discovered family names or other names
of interest, or alternately were surprised at the names they expected
to find but didn't find.

So here are three more lists of communists and communist-supporters
found on Google Books; perhaps these will be helpful. They each have
an abundance of commonly-Jewish surnames:

#1) "The Names and Addresses of the Woters [sic] for the Communist
Party Ticket in the 1936 General Election of the Boroughs of New York
City: Official Report for the Confidential Use of the Special
Committee on Un-American Activities"

https://books.google.com/books?id=A19bAAAAcAAJ&printsec=frontcover&vq=Signers+of+Petitions+for+Candidates+of+the+Communist+Party+for+State+and+City+Elections,&source=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q&f=false

#2) "The Nominating Petitions and List of Names and Addresses which
Appeared Thereon, Filed by the Communist Party with the Secretary of
State in the State of New York"
[Dated November 1940 -- this one is very similar to the one posted two
weeks ago, but it includes areas of New York State outside of New York
City]

https://books.google.com/books?id=Ml5bAAAAcAAJ&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q&f=false

#3) "The Election Petition of the Communist Party and the List of
Names and Addresses Filed with the Secretary of State in the State of
Illinois"
[Dated November 1940]

https://books.google.com/books?id=q2JbAAAAcAAJ&q=names+and+addresses+communist+party&dq=names+and+addresses+communist+party&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwizl6zvvejUAhVlImMKHftLCyYQ6AEILDAC#v=onepage&q&f=false

Incidentally, I should mention that all three of these books were
scanned, uploaded, and listed on Google Books, but originally only two
or three pages from each book were freely available for reading. So I
filled out this online form at Google...

https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/6113327

...and cut-and-pasted the books' URL's, and mentioned that these books
should be in the public domain, as they were part of a government
publication. Google reviewed the content, wrote back within a few
days, and "unlocked" the rest of the books, making them wholly
available online. If you ever run across a Google Book that is only
partially available, you can try this technique too, if you believe
the content is so old that it is out of copyright or should be in the
public domain.

Great idea. An interesting connection is if you had relatives who were
in the International Brigade in the Civil War in Spain you may find
them here, or their families.
