To all those with an interest in Tarnow,

The Jewish cemetery in Tarnow (about 50 miles east of Krakow) has
existed for over 500 years and is a unique historical site as well as
genealogical resource. If you had ancestors who lived and died in
Tarnow, it is likely their resting place. It is also the site of mass
graves from the Nazi era. Sadly, it is in poor condition despite the
ongoing efforts of Adam Bartosz and the Committee for the Protection
of Jewish Heritage in Tarnow.

At this time, the Committee has initiated a definitive project to
preserve, restore, clean up, enhance, and protect the cemetery. Work
is already under way. This is a significant and long-awaited moment for Tarnow
Jews and their descendants. To learn more about the project I invite
you to write to me at rrm...@gmail.com and/or join the Jewish Tarnow
facebook group,

Sincerely,
Russ Maurer
