MARKSTEIN and HOCHWALD, 1939 refugees in UK

Dear Fellow Researchers

I am currently researching the MARKSTEIN and HOCHWALD families who arrived
in the UK in 1939 as refugees. They were not interned and living in Kent at
the time the Register was taken. They came under the auspices of the Jewish
Aid Committee but I should like to know how this worked and whether or not
people were able to choose where to live on arrival in the UK. Were such
details finalised in their home countries.

I should welcome your thoughts on the above.

Please note my family tree is not on the internet but I am happy answer
questions where possible.
