Hi all,

This is the first time I've posted on the EML. But first, I wanted to
say that this is an incredible group of people! I've only been
searching for my ancestors for a little over a month - because I'll be
going to Poland next spring, and already the help I've received from
this group is beyond amazing.

As a result, I have found (and will meet in a couple weeks) a first
cousin (1 X removed) I never knew I had, as well as another cousin
(4th) in Brazil. I even now have a letter that was addressed to ME (!)
from a great-aunt, that I had forgotten about.

However, no matter **how** hard I search, and what sites I search on, I'm
hitting a wall.

My great-grandfather's name, when he came to the States, was Simon
Epstein. He was born in 1871 in Plawno, Poland. He married Pearl
Mochedlover/Moczydlower. Three of their eight children were born in
Poland, it appears in Warsaw. They then went to England, and in 1906,
came to the US. He died in 1954 in California.

I found one document that indicated that his mother's name might be
Lea/Leah, or Laja. Thanks to someone else on JewishGen, I have some
**major** descendant reports that **might** be him, with the name Szaja
Epsztejn. The birth date is exactly the same, and it's in Plawno. But,
could that be the name he had before leaving Poland?? And how well
could I trust this information to be on **his** family?

In my research, it appears that in January 1942, the mayor was ordered
to remove the 460 Jews to the ghetto in Radomosko. I found a **lot** of
Epsteins from Radomosko on Yad Vashem who were murdered. But I don't
know if **this** is why I can't find any information on his family.

However, when I was jumping up and down with excitement, she pointed
out that we needed **some** way to verify this!

The new-found cousin had a photo of Simon's mother, but her own mother
didn't know her name. Apparently, none of the kids liked their
father...

So here's why I'm writing: If **anyone** might have any connection/
information on Simon Epstein/ Szaja Epsztejn, and perhaps
has photos, then if we compare photos, I might be able to find out
exactly who she was, and move back from there.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide. Even tips of where else to
look would be helpful.
