I am researching Abram and Dvora ROGOVOY from the town of Raskayez.
Can anyone help me find this town. It is on a border near a lake.
Maybe between Poland and Russia or Russia and Romania?

Their daughter Batya ROGOVOY born 1905 made Aliyah in about 1923. I
am helping my cousin find the town of her great grandparents.

Thanks

A beginners-problem with the marvelous Gazetteer is that the default search
[for good reason!**] is:

"Phonetically Like — Beider-Morse Phonetic Matching"

while if not found, one should imho immediately extend the search-method to

"Sounds Like — Daitch-Mokotoff Soundex",

as only then Rascaeti, Raskaitsy, Raskayetsy could be found from a "Raskayez"
entry.

** The good reason is that Daitch-Mokotoff sometimes gives an unhealthy amound
of hits.
