Dear All,
So far I've had no success in locating my father's high school transcript
from Warsaw, circa 1927-1928. These records would have been required when
he applied to U. of Montpellier, France, (1928-1931) and then U. of Geneva,
Switzerland, Medical School (1932-1935).

Dr. Henry Cymerman (1910-1981) did his internship and residency in Brooklyn,
NY at Beth-El Hospital (1936) and at the Jewish Sanitarium and Hospital for
Chronic Diseases (1939). Neither institution exists today.

Does anyone know where these records might be accessed today?

Thank you!

Dear Cousins,

Isabel Cymerman asked where she could get her father's high school transcript
and maybe other records, and mentioned that he did his medical internship and
residency in Brooklyn, New York, at Beth-El Hospital in 1936 and at the
Jewish Sanitarium and Hospital for Chronic Diseases in 1939, but that neither
institution still exists.

Those two hospitals are still around. Beth-El is Brookdale University Hospital
and Medical Center, and the Jewish Sanitarium is Kingsbrook Jewish Medical
Center. (Almost every hospital has undergone several name changes as they've
merged, moved, and "rebranded" themselves over the years. Hardly any call
themselves hospitals anymore, they're all "medical centers," whatever those
are.) A nearly complete listing of name changes of hospitals in New York City,
including those that have closed, is at
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_hospitals_in_New_York_City

I have edited this page extensively over the past year or so, and it probably
can't be completed, but it's close.

However, I don't know what the requirements were decades ago for hospitals to
obtain and then keep information on their interns and residents - and there
was certainly no need for them to have high school records, probably not even
university or college records, just medical school and onward. On the other
hand, if he had a medical license in New York State, the State Department of
Education (not the Department of Health) is another place to try, although
they don't keep copies of the information submitted to them, and usually have
only a page or two synopsis of information to confirm that a doctor went to
medical school, passed exams, and did an internship and residency. Full
transcripts might still be available from his college and medical school in
Europe.

Regarding obtaining high school transcripts from a Warsaw high school
(1928), a big Thank You as well to Ira and Judy and others I may not have named!
