Dear fellow researchers
My grandfather Joseph Wallach immigrated to the U.S. from Bessarabia c. 1911.
When the U.S. entered World War I, he was drafted or joined the army.

He was not a citizen of the United States at the end of the war in 1918.
However he did fill out a petition for naturalization listing his army post as
his address. He gives up allegiance to the present government of Russia, I
suppose because Russia was in such turmoil at the time. When he received his
certificate of naturalization his address is again is his army post.

My question is would veterans of World War I receive citizenship in a
different way than non-military citizens. Also he married one year later in
1919. Would his wife have any special lane to citizenship because she married
a veteran, or would she need to go through the usual citizenship process?

Thank you.
