Greetings!
Center of military history

My name is Gage Reeves, and I'm a teacher here in Portland, Oregon.
I'm working on a family story of my great grand father's WWII time.
I've got a wealth of family docs, but I have a specific question that
I'd like to ask you.

If a Jewish business/property owner owned their property prior to the
fascists, in the US zone of occupation in 1946 (Munich specifically),
where might there be searchable records of their restitution claims?
I'm looking for documentation of Hermann Schulein (a quite wealthy brewer
partner in the Lowenbrau Brewery). There's lots of documentation about the
Schulein family, but I'm looking for some procedural evidence. I know that he
reclaimed his property/brewery relatively soon after the war (and quickly
started exporting beer to the US, and supplying servicemen clubs),
and I'm looking for a connection between my GGPa Stephen Yates McGiffert
(who was chief of the economic division of the Office of the Military Government
of Bavaria, in Munich, working for 4 years alongside folks like Ludwig Erhard,
and folks in the Post war German gov, to get the economy going).

Would the claim have gone through Jewish succession and restitution
groups, the crumbled remains of the German gov, or would it have been
the OMGB (US)? Where might I find documents of that nature?

If this question is out of your scope of reference, could you point me in the
right direction?

All the best through this Passover,
Sincerely,
Gage
