To all those interested in Trestina (Pol. Trzcianne),

The Jewish cemetery in Trzcianne (Trestina), northwest of Bialystok, is
in a state of deep decay, not having been maintained since the Nazis
destroyed most of the town in 1941.

Many of us with Trestina roots have ancestors and relatives who are
buried there.

A project to restore the cemetery has been started by Trestina
descendants, in partnership with the Foundation for the Preservation of
Jewish Heritage in Poland, the Polish government entity that owns the
cemetery and much of the communal Jewish property in Poland.

The project has also received the support of the chief rabbi of Poland,
Michael Schudrich.

One of project's goals is to document the inscriptions on the headstones,
which will give us valuable genealogical information.

Thank you,
